Howdy there improv fans,
We had a fantastic last show of the season on Monday, April 14th at Wellington St. Theatre. We had a record 15 participants in our Jam! Thanks everyone! We even managed to record it all, and if you missed it, you can check it out in the media section (link above).
Summer plans are a little unsure right now, but there may or may not be secret plans in the works to challenge another improv troupe in a bloody theatresports tournament. Details to come!

This summer, we've been at theatre 5, and experimenting with new format.
The first 45 minutes are regular improv show stuff, with some more emphasis on gimmicks.
Intermission
The second 45 minutes are our smokin' hot longform, a new experiment we are trying. Here's a summary of one courtesy of
Mike.
It went brilliantly.
Anytime I wasn't on stage I was doubled over laughing at the characters the others had created. Somehow a story about a priest golfing progressed to include:
Two vietnam war veterans, one of whom had been a surgeon who hadn't finished med school and consequently reattached his friends body parts incorrectly and was harbouring deep guilt so many years later
A man who ran a red light and smoked a baby who turned out to be the illegitimate child of the golfing priest
The mangled vietnam veteran having an eating disorder for which he turned to the priest and god for solice.
An Irish caddy who could pray to Jesus to create hole in ones and thus became an apprentice to the priest and advised the vietnam surgeon to reunite with his friend.
The vietnam veteran surgeon eventually resucitating the baby (who'd been dead for 35 minutes of the scene) and ended up attaching himself, his friend, and the baby into one body thus allowing the priest to be reunited with 3 sons who became the holy trinity.
So yes... good times.

Thursday June 8th was the last show at TTL for the summer - we werent getting enough audience, so we decided to close it out with a bang. Dustin (me) was the host.
This included a debut of Beastie Boys as an audience warm up, which went awesomely.
My dentist says I should really floss,
but I'd just rather eat apple SAUCE.The theme of the beastie boys was food, but thanks to a slightly clever audience and scripting my lines to make it easier, they picked it up really quick

Here's some awesome quotes:
"fucking Olsen twin" - Kate
"And we have a dog" - Jim (you'd have to get the context for this, it was in the one-man scene.
"I am rather fit for my race!" - Thom (the race being tomatoes)
"I put a seed in your tea" - Andrew?
"twas the placebo that killed the babe" - Jim

Finally, in the RockOpera at the end, a hero titled "The Eavesdropper" appeared, capable of X-ray hearing, to save an alcoholic.
"You think you'll be in utopia, but you'll be suffering from alcohol myopia." - Jim
Thursday was Jim's last show with The Improv Show.
Our next show may be a little more artsy, and will appear at Theatre 5 July or August.
- Dustin, incoming Artistic Director/Head Director
